Your trailer brakes need power

The Elecbrakes EB2 receives power through your trailer's taillight circuit. To ensure the brake controller powers up correctly, switch your headlights to ON before connecting and towing.

Auto and DRL often don't work

Many vehicles don't supply power to the trailer's taillight circuit when the headlights are set to Auto or Daytime Running Lights (DRL). If the controller isn't receiving power, your trailer brakes may not operate correctly.

2

Connect the Elecbrakes App

Tap to Connect Hold your smartphone against the Elecbrakes EB2 logo to quickly pair your device.

EB2 — NFC + Bluetooth

Hold your phone near the logo on the black box. When the NFC prompt pops up, tap Connect.

  1. Turn your headlights ON.Connect the trailer's 7-pin plug to your vehicle.
  2. Open the Elecbrakes app.Hold your phone to the EB2 logo and tap Connect when prompted.
  3. No connection prompt?Tap Add Manually and select your EB2 from the list.
  4. Press your brake pedal. The app indicator should turn red, confirming the trailer brakes are connected and working correctly.

Only one phone at a time

The EB2 can only connect to one device at a time. If another phone is already connected, disconnect it before pairing your device.

3

Do a quick calibration drive

The controller needs to feel which way is forward

Before your first trip, the EB2 needs to learn the trailer's direction of travel. The process only takes about a minute and helps ensure smooth, accurate braking.

  1. Drive slowly.Travel in a straight line at a low speed.
  2. Brake gently2–3 times.
  3. Wait for the app to say "Calibration Complete".

Only need to do this once

Once the initial calibration is complete, the EB2 automatically continues to learn and optimise braking performance as you drive. You won't need to repeat this step unless instructed otherwise.

4

Check you've got two green lights

Open the Data tab in the app

Before you drive away, take a moment to complete this quick check. It only takes a minute and confirms your trailer brakes are receiving power.

Advanced Settings & TroubleshootingBrake tuning, sway control, alerts, and fixes

Fine-Tune Your Brakes

Your EB2 is ready to tow using the default settings. If your trailer feels too weak or too aggressive, make small adjustments to suit your load.

~10
Empty trailer
Lower minimum response for lighter braking.
~40
Loaded trailer
Higher forward response for heavier loads.
MinimumGentle stops
Minimum response
Drive at 20 km/h and brake gently. Adjust until you can just feel the trailer braking.
ForwardNormal stops
Forward response
Drive at 40–50 km/h and brake firmly. Adjust until the car and trailer stop smoothly together.
ReverseBacking up
Reverse response
Reverse slowly and brake. Adjust until reversing feels smooth and controlled.

Save it as a program

Save your setup as a program in the app. You can store up to five different brake settings.

What the app circle means

Blue = Ready Connected and ready. All good.
Red = Braking Trailer brakes are active right now.

Manual override

Tap the app indicator to apply the trailer brakes without using your vehicle's brake pedal. Tap it again to release the brakes. Use this feature only for quick testing at low speed.

Important: don't leave Manual Override switched on

It is designed for testing only. Leaving it on while driving can damage the trailer brakes.

SwayControl

Automatically stops your trailer from swinging

If your trailer starts to sway while driving, SwayControl automatically applies the trailer brakes to help bring it back under control. No action is required from the driver.

ActiveCorrecting now

If the gauge keeps swinging wide

Slow down safely and let the trailer settle. If the sway continues, check that your load is balanced correctly and positioned slightly forward of the axle.

Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Control Elecbrakes from your dashboard

Connect your phone and use the Elecbrakes app directly from your vehicle's infotainment screen for easy monitoring while towing.

Apple CarPlay Connect your iPhone via USB or wireless, then open the Elecbrakes app on your vehicle's display.
Android Auto Connect your Android phone via USB (or wireless if supported), then open the Elecbrakes app from the Android Auto menu.

What the alerts mean
